In our image capture, we use Sinar Braun comet strobe lights, a Foba camera stand to control vibration, a vacuum easel and a high-end digital camera. High gloss oil paintings require the use of an 8”x10”view camera with Ektachrome transparency film and polarizing filters to eliminate specular highlights. We scan this film on our Howtek Scanmaster 7500 drum scanner. We also drum scan original photographs up to 18”x24”. Flatbed scanners are used for smaller images. Digital capture is quick but it cannot match the detailed quality of an 8 x 10 inch sheet of Ektachrome G Film oil mounted and drum scanned.
